Tel Aviv explosion: A powerful, loud explosion was reported in a building in Tel Aviv on Friday morning, causing the death of one, and wounded two other people, said an Israeli emergency services spokesperson. The Israeli army said that the incident had been caused by the falling of an aerial target.
The Israeli air force also said that air patrols had been increased to protect the Israeli airspace.
"No sirens were activated," the army said in a statement. Seven other people have also been reported to be in a state of shock, Zaki Heller of the Magen David Adom services, told the AFP.
The army had earlier probed an investigation into the incident, suspecting it to be a drone attack.
A body bearing injuries caused by bomb fragments has also been spotted, said one of the police spokesperson, Dean Elsdunne.
"Earlier tonight (Friday), an explosion sounded in the area of central Tel Aviv. We are looking into the reports that it was an aerial target. The incident is under review," the military said in a brief statement.
The blast occurred hours after the Israeli military confirmed it had killed a senior commander of the Iran-backed Hezbollah militia in southern Lebanon, reported the Reuters.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Hezbollah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah had cautioned of the group increasing their attacks in Israel if it struck more civilians. Immediately a day later, the Iran-backed group attacked Israel with dozens of rockets and missiles, including the Filon base in Israel's Safed for the first time, reported Reuters.
Israel and Hezbollah have been conflict stricken eversince the Iran-backed group announced support for Palestinians shortly after the Hamas Israel conflict on October 7. It killed at least 14 people, and triggered a massive war. Reports state that, the fighting in Lebanon has killed over 100 civilians and more than 300 Hezbollah fighters so far.
Meanwhile, the Israel-Hamas war has killed more than 38,600 people, causing a humanitarian catastrophe in the coastal Palestinian territory. Over 2.3 million population has been displaced.
