Union Home Minister Amit Shah and his wife Sonal Shah, offered prayers to Lord Ganesha at the Lalbaugcha Raja in Mumbai. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde was also spotted at the pandal.
A video released by ANI shows the minister and his wife offering vermillion on the feet of Lord Ganesha. The couple also offered a bunch of coconuts, and a pink garland for the idol.
Later, Amit Shah also visited the residence of Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis, reported ANI.
The report further stated that Shiv Sena leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut had voiced strong objections upon the arrival of Amit Shah and BJP officials in Mumbai.
Raut further cautioned that Mumbai's Lalbaugcha Raja would be taken away to Gujarat. He took a dig at Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi by stating that ‘they have taken all of it to Gujarat’.
"Whether it is industry, trade institutions, or anything else, whether it is our land, they have taken everything to Gujarat because it concerns Mumbai's prestige," Raut was quoted as saying by ANI.
Today, i.e, September 9 marks the second day of the 10-day-long Ganesh Utsav in Mumbai. Lalbaugcha Raja is the oldest Ganpati pandal in the city.
The renowned Ganesh idol at the Lalbaugcha Raja Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal stands as a key highlight of the festival, attracting thousands of devotees who come to seek the deity's blessings.
The Ganpati Pandal further received donations worth ₹48.30 lakh right on the first day of the festival.
Anant Ambani and Reliance Foundation have gifted a 20-kg gold crown to Lalbaugcha Raja. On September 5, the initial glimpse of the idol was revealed.
Lord Ganesha can be seen sitting majestically on the throne at Lalbaugcha, adorning the gold crown. Reportedly, it took more than two months to make the magnificent gold crown.
